On Tuesday, Sept. 15, the University of Nevada Business Student Council sponsored a free barbeque for UNR students. The barbeque is a part of Business Week, which is taking place on the campus until Friday, Sept. 18. UNR students eat it up, forming a line for the free hotdogs and hamburgers that extends from the business building almost all the way to the journalism building.
Carmen Albright, the director of the Business Student council, or BSC, said that the barbeque is a major event during business week. She hopes the barbeque will spark interest in prospective business students.
“The goal is name recognition,” Albright said.
The Students enjoying their free lunch, however did not seem to pick up on the barbecue’s purpose.
“What is the Business Student Council?” Kyle Church, a sophomore with a business minor asked while eating his Hamburger and chips.
“Oh is that what all this is for?” John Long asked.
The Business Student Council put’s on events in hope that students will join the business school. BCS funds these events from leftover money from sponsors they have acquired. Keep your eyes open for complimentary food and drinks around campus this week. Advisement meetings will be held in the Jot Travis Student Union throughout the week to plan your path into the college of business.
