Gary Powers Interview

The 2010 Wolf Pack Baseball season is almost here, the first game of the season is against Santa Clara on February 19th. The Broncos finished last season with a record of 19-34, and finished eighth in the WCC. UNR finished the season with a slightly better record than Santa Clara with a record of 25-31. For The Pack this season there is a high optimism for this team, especially since this season we have a very talented roster from top to bottom. The WAC this season is going to be filled with a few teams that are going to be very competitive including Fresno State, Hawaii, and Lousiana Tech. Hawaii is the team that ended the Wolf Pack’s season last year. Louisiana Tech has a very young team this season, they will definitely be a contender considering that they finished the season with a record of 29-22.
“Fresno State is the team to beat every year.” Said Head Baseball Coach Gary Powers.
Fresno State finished last season with a record of 31-30. The Bulldogs made it to the NCAA Regionals, but fell short of the College World Series, after losing to San Diego State. Every year Fresno State is a very big contender in the WAC, especially taking into consideration that they won the College World Series in 2008. “UNR has always been very competitive against Fresno State.” Said Powers. We are going to have to be competitive against them, if we have any plans of taking the WAC title this season.
