Since its grand opening in early April, Einstein Bagels has risen quite drastically in recognition over the mere month it has been open for students on campus.
“The Einstein Bros. company has been well recognized for their tasty, fresh-baked bagels and goods made with the finest ingredients for many to enjoy,” said manager Liz Rico at the Einstein Bros. at the Joe Crowley.
The on campus food franchise is now the second of seven other Einstein Bagel eateries that will be open in the Reno area.
Chuck Price, director of the Joe Crowley Student Union at UNR, is very pleased with Einstein Bagels becoming a superior on-campus establishment with the university.
“We are very excited to have Einstein Bros. Bagels occupy our final vending location at the 15th Street Cafe,” said Price.
Though university administrators are pleased with the idea of having such a fine food franchise on campus, they seem to be more happy with the fact that it has obtained much popularity from the student population ever since its grand opening.
“I really enjoy having it on campus because it has high-quality food at a really good price for students,” says Tanner Van Overbeke, a sophomore here at the university.
Tanner also added that along with bringing great quality he also enjoys eating at a place during the day that provides much healthier choices on their menu that he prefers to have when dining at the student union.
Not only has the new food franchise provided students at the university with a place to eat great food with nutritional value, it has also opened up the opportunity for students in need of financial support to seek employment with reasonable hours and pay.
Stef Carmichael, sophomore, and Christina Romeo, freshman, both employed by Einstein Bagels, believe that it’s a great place to work because it allows them to take an occasional break in order to focus on their studies.
According to Stef the only minor setback Einstein Bagels has experienced here on campus is having to cut back on staff hours for reasons unknown.
“I”m really unhappy that they cut back my hours,” said Stef Carmichael, “But in the end I’m really grateful to still hold a job here and earn a little money.”
Fortunately the upcoming budget cuts for the 2011- 2012 school year will not play any significant role in dismissing Einstein Bagels from campus due to its self funding from private owners in the southern Nevada region.
