The Blue Flu

An epidemic of the “Blue Flu” is spreading all over the UNR campus due to an uprising of homecoming spirit.

With countless free homecoming events all over campus, its easy for students to take part in the tradition.

“When I was an undergrad they didn’t have anything like this” said 30-year-old grad student Jeannette Barlow, who joined the homecoming comity this year “Just to be with the excitement of it.”

But with all the time and money the Associated students of the University of Nevada (ASUN)is putting into homecoming week- How many students are actually going to these free events?

“It’s geared more toward lower classmen,” said 21-year-old senor Nick Goff, “I’m a bit too old for it.”

Some underclassmen would disagree with Goff in his analysis of homecoming.

“I think it’s a nece event,” said undecided freshmen, Bryan Hines “[but] I don’t really feel anything for it.” and he isn’t the only one.

Quite a few underclassmen don’t see the why so much money is being spent on homecoming.

“Homecoming is, in my opinion, a fun but pointless in college,” said sophomore, Ethan Malone.

There are 31 alumni programs listed on the Alumni Association Webpage, and numerous clubs and student originations participating in this year’s homecoming competitions.

“I like how it brings everyone together” said 21-year-old robin Mcmullen.
